Peace Officer Service

Flagstaff County is authorized by the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Services of Alberta to employ:

  • The Traffic Safety Act
  • The Provincial Offences Procedure Act
  • The Highways Development and Protection Act
  • The Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act
  • The Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act
  • And other provincial acts and legislation.
  • The Peace Officers work in partnership with various Federal and
  • Provincial agencies to patrol and enforce legislation and regulations.

Community Peace Officers enforce weights and measures to ensure that road users operating in Flagstaff County are working within legal allowances, therefore protecting the infrastructure from damage and increasing safety on our roadways.

Flagstaff County Peace Officers are contracted to provide enforcement services for the urban municipalities within the County.

RCMP’s Flagstaff County Crime Map

The Alberta RCMP supports community engagement by providing the public with the tools, resources and information they need to uphold public safety – for themselves and for their communities.

About the Map

The new online map enables the Alberta RCMP to share current criminal incidents with members of the communities they serve across Alberta.

Crime Reduction

The RCMP hopes that the map will help encourage citizens to report suspicious activity to the police which will strengthen their intelligence gathering capability and help them make arrests.

Online Crime Reporting

Online Crime Reporting (OCR) offers an alternative and convenient way for people to report non-emergent crime without having to call the police or visit the detachment.

All reports received through OCR are forwarded to the Call Back Unit for investigation and completion. Use of online crime reporting by the public provides frontline members the chance to spend more time on the road being proactive.

Positive Ticket Program

Nominating a child in Flagstaff for a positive ticket just got easier.

Positive tickets are issued for positive behaviour such as practicing personal safety, being a community hero and making smart choices. Our peace officer wants to be notified by teachers, coaches, friends and neighbours throughout the Flagstaff Region who have witnessed a child doing a positive or helpful deed, or performing a safe act that would be worthy of receiving a positive ticket.

Positive tickets come with a $10 coupon that can be redeemed at participating businesses, as well as a bracelet for a free swim at the Killam Regional Aquatic Centre.
