Programs & Information
The Agricultural Services Department focuses on pest management, weed control, roadside vegetation and more. The Ag Department works in cooperation with provincial and private agricultural and environmental organizations to deliver programs beneficial to our residents.
Pollinator Habitat Establishment Program
The Pollinator Habitat Establishment Program involves seeding a small plot of land, typically three to five acres, with a pollinator seed blend.Â
Agricultural Service Board
The Flagstaff County Agricultural Service Board consists of three councillors and four at-large members.

Clubroot
Clubroot is a serious soil-borne disease affecting canola and crops in the cabbage family. The disease spreads primarily through contaminated soil on equipment and can persist in fields for many years.

Roadside Vegetation Management
Flagstaff County manages roadside brush and vegetation to improve road safety and infrastructure longevity, using spot herbicide treatments and twice-yearly mowing.
Leafy Spurge Program
Leafy Spurge is classified as a noxious weed under the Alberta Weed Control Act and, therefore, holds an obligation to be controlled.

Custom Spraying
Flagstaff County offers cost-recovery custom spraying on private land for small patches of persistent perennial weeds, including toadflax, leafy spurge, and common tansy.

Roadside Haying
Flagstaff County landowners can apply for a permit to hay municipal right-of-ways, with applications accepted until June 15 and haying required to be completed by July 31.
Satellite Mulch Sites
Flagstaff County residents can now help themselves to free wood chips at the satellite mulch sites in Strome and Galahad.

Pest Control Products
Flagstaff County offers a variety of cost-recovery options to help residents manage Richardson’s ground squirrels, including poison-free RoCon, traps for purchase or rent, and Weevil-Cide tablets for certified applicators.
